Where Supervisors Come From

I don't know who said it first, but it's worth repeating.

The world is divided into two groups.

There are those who know, and those who don't know.
Those who know, they're no problem.

Those who don't know are also divided into two groups.
One is those who don't know, and know they don't know. Well, they can learn!

But then, there are those who don't know, and don't know they don't know.
They become supervisors.

This is very profound. I think the new company is somewhat better than in the old days. Many years ago the very worst drivers were always promoted! As a swing driver back then, I was always sent to "FIX" the problems created by the "WannaBees". No matter, they promoted them anyway. After they did their downsizing deal years later, funny thing to see those same people being shown the door. At least in the past few years they seem to have discovered a way to recruit a higher quality of new supervisor, but of course as we know well, there are still some glaring exceptions in the mix!
