Hoffa Nails the Teamster Position On Trade With China
General President Jimmy Hoffa really nails what our position is on trade with China. We are not against China when it comes to trade and manufacturing. We just want a level playing field. Our workers in America have proven that they can compete and win in a global economy when all things are equal. The corporatists don't care about workers, or the environment, or the world. It's all a Race to the Bottom Line for them. If it's profitable then do it. Screw the world, people, Americans, anyone, or anything that gets in the way. Americans stand by and not only let this happen, but stand up and vote against their own best interests in the hope that their lives will get better as a result

The situation we are in today is one that will take considerable pain and sacrifice to fix, but fix it we must. Our government must stop giving big corporations the tax incentives to build overseas operations. For over 2 decades we have been giving these monkeys the benefits they desire for creating those overseas plants, so there they go. The foreign govts also are guilty of making it too easy and diplomacy can erase that situation. Then the captains of industry can begin reinvesting on the US and our people for a change. Since the labor movement is on full forward charge, I then hope these new companies will become union shops and the jobs will be productive and will pay a living wage. I don't care if this is hard and we all have to give up some stuff for awhile, I just want it to happen. No matter what happens we must insist on making our government work for us for a change, instead of representing these corporations lock stock and barrel. In round one of the bailout the Bush/Paulson bunch gave the big banks 350 billion and none of that has gone back in the form of loans or credit. Then the republicans in Congress crybaby about a measly 15 billion to the automakers and the UAW benefiting from it. You can see there are some real problems of priorities on the Hill for too long. Keep writing our Senators and Reps on all of this. Demand that they represent us for a change and stop propping up corporate interests with the false promise of trickle down economics. Demand they support the Labor movement, which is the only sure hope for workers in this country. We can export for a change, and if those other countries want our economic support they must be required to buy our goods too. Balance is needed, and it is going to take years to get it. Strong workers mean a stong America!
