Company Continues Service Level Cuts
The company announced to drivers today that any package with three delivery attempts will be returned to the shipper. No more post cards. No more phone calls. No more fourth attempts. Before it was only COD's that were immediatly returned. Now all ground, and all air will be sent back after three attempts, no exceptions. Wonder what the wine companies will think when they get half of everything they ship back?








There will be ramifications with this for several wine shippers. I wonder if the "Will Call" option will still be used to intervene in that process?
Overall I think it is a good thing for the drivers as they will not have to keep seeing the same package over a 2 week period. Customers will probably not like it, but they will get used to it.
Do you know if FedEx has the same policy?

This is off of upsers.com under corporate PCMs. RTS Not-in-3 Ground Packages (Week-ending April 25) Beginning, Monday,April 27, we will return Not-in-3 ground packages to the sender if they don't require delivery confirmation or and adult signature. All UPS Ground packages with Signature Required and Adult Signature Required, 3 Day Select packages, air packages, and international packages will continue to get post-carded and held for five business days before returning to the shipper. It also states their costs are higher when they have to post-card, hold packages, or make a fourth delivery attempt. If you go under TALKING POINTS and look at the Questions and Answers the only way a shipper can still get his ground packages post-carded carded is to send it signature required. That will cost the shipper more money.
