Alternative ERI - The slightly different survey on UPS´employee relations
The UPS ERI survey has been suspended due to the economic crisis.
When it comes back, it will be called EOS, and it is stated that it is going to help management to improve workplace atmosphere and teamwork in your local plant.
Others consider the ERI survey to be an instrument of control and manipulation. Especially the circumstances under which ERI is taking place, the PCMs and informal talks that go with it and the subsequent ERI-meetings are widely criticised.
Therefore we (a network of rank and file UPSers and trade unionists not only from Germany) are offering an alternative ERI for the third time now, despite the crisis.
Our survey will end on December 12th. The results will be published here soon after.
You may add your comments and your location at the end of the survey. We are grateful for any comments, suggestions or criticisms. Thank you for participating and have fun completing the survey.

Hey that is a cool website. I took the survey myself just for fun. It reminded me of the ERI, but the questions were more comprehensive.
I always considered the ERIs I took to be a waste of time for the most part, but I relished the Comment Area at the end. That is where each employee gets a chance to really sound off, and I know they read the comments.
UPS management uses the ERI survey results as content for PCMs over a period of weeks after one is completed. I think that is about all they do with it, but the comments area is where I believe they really focus.
Comments on the ERI are most employees ONLY CHANCE to express their opinions, and they have to be creative as the character limits are set fairly low. You can't write a book.
I always used that comments area to describe the most important and perhaps controversial things that were important to me and I did not hold back.
One time 25 years ago my manager would not give out the checks on Christmas Eve (Wed that year), but all the other managers in the building did give out the checks. I needed that check bad to buy stuff for the family. He would not budge. I still remember how that felt and I am still mad about it. He was wrong and never apologized for it.
I hammered him by name on the ERI comments section the following year. That was when they still had a suggestion box, and I also hammered him in the Box too. Heck, I am still doing it because it was so cruel. Some day, when I go to my maker, I am sure he will make me put that hammer down.
Negative actions from management hurt the workers, and the ERI is their only opportunity to focus on what bothers them. I always took it knowing they would never do anything about any of the problems revealed in the results, but I loved the comment area.
Enjoyed the survey George!
