You know, the hat with the beaver lining that flips down to keep your ears warm. That "Fud" gave me many a warm day in a cold world. I'd like to take that with me.

Comment on Can You Be Buried in Your UPS Uniform?

Wow this is a wonderful idea. Now I hate to copycat, but it would certainly be cool to be buried with my good UPS duds that I kinda "forgot to turn in".

They were in the laundry at the time, and gee willikers, they took my pass.

Maybe we could start a new business to fight off the money blues and call it "themed burials"

Morticians would call us in to meet new clients, and we could create a unique funeral for the person with uniforms from thier life's work (or works) along with other cool stuff that signifies their lives.

We could start with UPS dudes. I have several of them uniforms (full of holes of course)

Comment on Article by Jim Hansen in Colorado Labor Blog

The only way the Democratic party will ever change, will be for the Unions to take over the party from the ground up. We need Teamsters as Senators. We need Comunications workers as Representatives. We need Plumbers as President. Our Unions need to stop throwing money alone at candidates with memories as long as you know what. We need our Union Brothers and Sisters to be those candidates.

Comment on TeaBaggers Hope Your Pension Collapses

Obviously the Teabaggers are happy with sub-standard wages, no benefits, expensive goods and virtually no job security. While they seek to gleefully expose "union pensions" as a big problem, they ignore company 401K plans which have tanked, and in some cases failed. I wonder what they really want?

I too am a patriot as they proclaim to be, and I have a big American Flag on my front porch which never comes down. I am also a veteran who proudly served his country, but I would love to see other workers get a contract like the one I had to work under.

These people are being mislead by the likes of Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh who try to blame economic difficulties on organized labor to distract the followers from seeing the real problem is just greed at every level.

The Teabags should join the Republicans, but I suspect they may not be that smart. If they don't join them, then their errant votes will detract from the republican candidates votes and the democrats will continue to win elections anyway.

I suppose they will then blame unions for that too? They are really blaming the wrong people for our national problems.

I suppose they like not having health care too?

Comment on Why Do Conseratives Hate UPS?

I think Heritage is good old buddies with Fedex somehow, and wants to please them for some reason. UPS is totally correct and Fedex is totally wrong.

This old adage applies to Fedex and it's many media objections to the current legislation:

"Methinks he doth protest too much"

Heritage hates unionized companies that are successful - that is the key to understanding this matter. They want to point the finger at unions and employers who are "victimized" by them, and say how bad we all are. Heritage can be bought and sold and apparently they have been in this case.

More business through increased exports is a great idea, and it would benefit UPS and Fedex. How bad can that be?

Comment on Will Your Manager Get a Raise?

This is amazing news. Supervisors and managers can still get a performance bonus if they hit the numbers. Of course it means the drivers will be the focus, and the pressure will be on them. Naturally we advise drivers to work safe, follow the 340 methods to the letter, and let the chips fall where they may.

I sure am happy that I am not working during this terrible economy. Imagine being pressured by a manager to get the stops per hour up and do more pickups just to get him a bonus! The senior management team has really set up a mess with this one. Hope the stewards have plenty of paper!

Smart drivers will simply do their job and do it right. No other issues need to be considered. Safety is first always.

Comment on What Is That Stuff That Trickles Down?

Yes Fedex should now be reclassified bacause of the following reasons:

They have moved into the ground shipping business and compete Big Time with UPS across the nation in that sector.

Their employees want to be organized into the Teamsters Union, or at least 90% of them do. They have had their benefits ransacked and their pensions devalued.

I hope the Senate passes this bill.

Currently Fedex is able to "undercut" rates on ground shipping contracts with many customers, and the reclassification will make things fair in the market they both compete in.

About the "Brown Bailout" campaign Fedex started, can you say PROPAGANDA?

Comment on Does UPS Have a Moral Obligation??

No, UPS does not have any civic duty to tell all the unsavory details of their former employee. The occasional bad apple is the exception.

Otherwise UPS could ruin someone's life after leaving UPS, for whatever reason. There is also the lawsuit problem. No, they do not have a civic duty. There is too much room for abuse the other way if allowed to say whatever they want to say.

Comment on UPS Faces Class Action on Fuel Charges

I guess I am on the company's side on this one. I have no idea how many packages are involved across the nation, but it must be a lot. However, it is obvious that by paying the higher rate for guaranteed delivery, the customer usually gets what they paid for, even if UPS did not fly the package. Common sense would dictate value for cost, whether the item is going across the country or across the state. The lawsuit seems frivolous to me somehow.

Comment on Pilots Face Concessions or Layoffs

Messing with the pilots has not gone well for UPS over the years. I wonder how this will turn out? I do not believe they will accept concessions, but I could be wrong. They are very militant and well organized. They have lashed back at the company in the past quite a few times as I recall.

They could start making the preflight checklist take longer, and they could take longer to file their flight plans.

I have heard they are part of the 1800 total layoffs we have been hearing about. Is that right?
